In May 2025, a monument to Valdemars Baumanis — founder of Latvia’s basketball tradition and coach of the legendary Dream Team 1935, winners of the first European Basketball Championship — was unveiled at the renovated forecourt of the Daugava Sports Hall in Riga.
The sculpture was created by Latvian sculptor Glebs Pantelejevs in collaboration with AM studio. The monument, made of stainless steel and 146 layers of transparent glass, stands out as a unique example of contemporary sculpture in Latvia.
The project began in 2018 and in 2025 became an important landmark in Riga, symbolizing the history and future of Latvian basketball.
